Lady Antebellum selected for Georgia Music Hall of Fame

Country music trio Lady Antebellum will be inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame.

Lady Antebellum members Dave Haywood and Charles Kelley hail from Columbia County, where they graduated from Lakeside High School in 2000. The group has won seven Grammy Awards and numerous honors from the Country Music Association and the Academy of Country Music.

The induction ceremony is Oct. 11 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. The awards will be televised live on Georgia Public Broadcasting.

Other inductees include Southern rock group Wet Willie, songwriter and Collective Soul frontman Ed Roland, blues singer Francine Reed, comedian Jeff Foxworthy and Danny Beard, the founder of Atlanta-based DB Records.

Among the five posthumous inductees is Bobby Byrd, a member of the Famous Flames band that backed soul singer James Brown.

Inductees are selected each year by the nonprofit Friends of Georgia Music Festival group.

Lady Antebellum, whose latest album, 747, will be released Sept. 30, will be honored with the Performer Award at the 36th annual induction ceremony.
