A Johnston woman won $75,000 from a lottery scratch-off after a North Augusta convenience store clerk helped select her lucky ticket.

“I’ve never won anything in my life,” the unnamed winner told lottery officials.

The woman said her husband gave her $5 and she decided to spend $3 on a Heritage Classic Foundation scratch-off ticket, which the clerk at Kangaroo Express on Edgefield Road selected for her.

When she scratched off a win, she was left reaching for her blood pressure medicine.

“I had to get an extra pill. I was so excited and nervous,” she said.

The win is enough to buy herself a new car and take her husband on a trip to the mountains, she said.

I would like to know her name and if she is on some type of public assistance. Maybe she is not and I congratulate her on winning.
