ATLANTA — In the Republican Southeast, critics are pushing back against President Obama’s plan to cut pollution from power plants.

Elected regulators, business interests and labor union officials said Tuesday in Atlanta that the Obama administration’s plan to trim emissions could raise electricity prices, result in job losses and will not significantly curtail global carbon emissions.

Those comments came Tuesday as the EPA held public hearings about the plan in Atlanta, Denver and Washington. A two-day hearing in Pittsburgh starts Thursday.

Obama’s plan would force a 30 percent cut in carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 from levels seen in 2005.

Supporters said Tuesday the benefits from reducing pollution-related illnesses and damage from global warming far outweigh the potential costs. The hearings will continue Wednesday.

Outweigh the Cost Bah Obumer

These over-paid over-in-flated socialists so-called do-gooders are doing nothing more than lining their pocket books. Over weigh the good my eye. There are so many elder people on fixed incomes living on Social Security than can barely afford dog food much less the EPA standards these socialists are attempting to shove down as a diet. This has to be fought before there is no middle class left to to support their ideals and line their pocket books. The rich are getting richer, and the middle class are getting poorer paying for the poor!

The increased manufacturing

The increased manufacturing in China and India from OUR companies moving there for cheaper energy will result in ZERO reduction in global carbon emissions.

The only result from this will be an increase in your electric bill between 20% and 50%, depending on where you live. Some people in the Midwest are really going to be in a hurt.

Push back my butt.....there should be a bounty on EPA policy wonks. They are zealots with NO concept of "global" implications.

swcohen and giants

I grew up seing the smoke from coal burned at Plant Yates before they were forced to take measures. Please explain why my health has not been impaired. While you are at it, tell me why my mother will be 91 in a few months and my grandmother lived to be 96. Tell me about how we were un affected pumping leaded gas, living with lead paint and asbestos. Chlorodane for termite treatment.

I can give you well meaning, but totally indoctrinated progs a lot to think about if that ability has not been taken away.

The top 5 world polluters

We're not #1 here anymore either.☺

1: China is the largest producer of emissions in the world,
2: The United States
3: Russia
4: India
5: Japan
All are LARGE Population & industrialized nations.

So maybe reducing population, the demand for energy and products is the real solution.

Anyone care to turn off the AC today, park their car and die?

Realization

A lot of utilities are shuttering and decommissioning coal and diesel generation facilities as we speak and will have very few remaining in 5 years. This will leave you with natural gas, nuclear, hydro and green energy solutions... What will happen to your natural gas prices when these demands rise? What will happen to your property when more land is needed to build dams for hydro? How many square miles will windmills and solar farms need. Currently nuclear is less expensive overall than any of these methods. By the time every group gets through with their agenda, you'll be getting your news from the town crier!

Though China is number one in

Though China is number one in pollution it is ranked 55 as carbon dioxide per capita because of its large population. We are ranked 12 by this standard. All we need to do is have more sex and reproduce more so our population grows-the more it grows the lower our ranking. Funny the solution to "man-made" global warming is more "mankind" which makes more population. There is a Dem solution for ya.

Our home owner covenants don't allow solar panels. I guess I'll have to move.

Man-made production of 29

Man-made production of 29 gigatons of CO2 is tiny compared to the 750 gigatons moving through the carbon cycle each year from natural sources. They say the carbon dioxide is higher now than the last 4 million years but that is a blatant lie it has been much higher and global temperatures much warmer-at least that is what the ice core data show. I firmly believe in global warming but I don't think the argument it is from fossil fuels is likely-more likely from land use changes than fossil fuels. In any case scientist say any changes in emissions will take from a hundred to a thousand years to have any effect, which is too late. If it is man-made and global there is really not much we can do to stop it=even if the whole world got on board. We would do better to create carbon sinks rather than lower production.

KSL, Well that is

KSL, Well that is controversial science that blacks have the lowest IQs, of any "race" but that is because science isn't "settled". However Obama is appears to be implementing Cloward-Piven for his neoMarxist goal of fundamental change. The communist have always caucused with the Dems just like racist caucus with Reps. But I'm surprised that so many Americans now want to be communist and support the Dem party. The progressives of today have little resemblance to the past and is really just made up of fascist and communist. I just can't over so many soldiers vowing to protect America against the hated communist and now most young folks have been indoctrinated into socialist forms of govt like communism. My generation protested the fed. govt and now young folks bow like servants and beg for more control over their lives-I guess because they don't know how to think on their own? They protested Wallstreet but not the fed. govt which was complicit in the economic collapse. Complain about wealth disparity and there sits Obama which has actually increased the wealth divide with his policies-because he owes most of Wall Street favors for their support.
