Lincoln County authorities have identified a 36-year-old man who was found dead in Thurmond Lake on Friday.

Coroner Paul Reviere said Saturday that Wayne Patrick Mravlja, of Blythe, was pronounced dead about 5:10 p.m. after he was discovered about 100 yards off shore near a small island in the Chamberlain’s Ferry Boat landing area.

Boaters found the body and called the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office about 4 p.m. Sheriff Bruce Beggs said the preliminary cause of death is drowning, but the investigation is ongoing.

The body was taken to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s crime lab in Atlanta for an autopsy scheduled for Monday, Reviere said.

@nocnoc With that unique of a last name, I can't imagine it not being the same person. But it begs the question, what does it matter if it is? Regardless of past offenses, he's still someone's family member.

Wayne was my best friend. I agree with Junkman77, he was a truly good person. He had a wonderful heart. He is loved by many and will be greatly missed.
I'm not sure what "nocnoc" said, but his friends & family thank whomever deleted it and "bdouglas" for his reply. Wayne was a good friend, good son, good brother, good grandson, good cousin and good nephew. His past is done and gone....he is gone, so none of that past matters. HE matters to us, his loved ones. RIP Wayne. I miss you and love you.
