U.S. Rep. John Barrow announces special office hours for veterans

  • Follow Metro

U.S. Rep. John Barrow has announced special office hours for veterans throughout Georgia’s 12th District next week when House lawmakers return home to meet with constituents and tend to local affairs.

Barrow will be present for each session and his office stated in a news release that it can intervene on a veteran’s behalf if he or she is having problems connecting with the Department of Veterans Affairs or getting their benefits.

Officials from the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Georgia Department of Veterans Services, and several veterans’ service organizations will be present to help veterans with claims.

“It’s a disgrace that the VA has neglected so many of our veterans,” Barrow said. “While we work to rebuild the VA, we need to address the issues folks are facing right now. Sometimes a quick conversation can help resolve a veteran’s problem, and sometimes more work is need. But we can help, and these special offices hours mean veterans will have access to their congressman, the VA and other organizations that can help.”

Suddenly...

...Rip Van Barrow has woken up after years of inactivity and is getting a lot of nice press coverage in the Chronicle. Nothing like the prospect of losing your seat in Congress to wake people up! Rick Allen has my vote, though -- we need a good Republican in the district. How come the Chronicle is not giving him good coverage.
