SC tourist injured by runaway carriage horse

CHARLESTON, S.C. — A passenger has been slightly injured and a house in Charleston’s historic district has been damaged after it was hit by a carriage when a horse bolted.

It happened on Thursday afternoon, gouging the wood on the house and tearing off two shutters. A passenger received a bump on the leg and the horse was scratched.

Authorities are investigating why the horse bolted.

It’s the second time this spring a carriage horse has bolted in Charleston.

On April 22, a horse pulling a carriage with three passengers crashed into the City Market. There were no injuries although the passengers had to cling to their seats as the horse ran off.
