CLARKSTON, Ga. — Authorities say a metro Atlanta police officer shot and killed a man who pulled out a replica gun that police said looked real.

Interim DeKalb County Police Chief James Conroy tells WSB-TV the shooting happened early Friday morning at an apartment complex in Clarkston.

Conroy said officers were called to the complex because of reports that a man was yelling and banging on doors.

Conroy said an officer confronted the man and the suspect pulled out what the officer believed was a gun. Conroy said the officer then shot the man, who later died at Grady Memorial Hospital.

No police officers were hurt in the shooting.

A tragic mistake by the man

A tragic mistake by the man who pulled out the toy gun. Not the officers fault.

The cop did what he had to do to go home safe that night. Guy who pulled toy gun was an idiot. Maybe suicide by cop?

It wasn't a tragic mistake,

It wasn't a tragic mistake, it was on purpose.

Suicide by cop.
