Richmond County sheriff’s deputies and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources were called to the Warren Road area late Sunday after several reports of a black bear in the area.

The calls came in just before midnight, and a deputy has been dispatched to the area to look for the bear. Further details will be forthcoming.

GIVE BEAR SOME SPACE

DNR provides tips for handling bears in residential areas:

- Never pursue a bear on foot or in vehicles in an attempt to chase it from the area.

- Give it plenty of space and an avenue of retreat.

- Homeowners should remove dogs from the area (keep them penned up) so the bear doesn't run up a tree.

- Remove all dog and cat food from porches or yards.

- Put trash out on the day of pickup by the garbage company.

Additional safety Item

12ga loaded with slugs, if the bear attempts to enter the house or is threatening people.

Otherwise leave it be and can DNR to tranquilize the hungry animal and move it back to the woods.

On of a related note
STINKING 1 week old garbage cans around ARC likely are attracting wild animals to some extent. Many wild animals, from coons to bears will wonder into the suburbs seeking food. A Restaurant Dumpster is a feast and so is cat and dog food. It is a load of food in 1 place for them.

HUMOR
If a neighbors dog that won't quit yapping all day and you have asked the neighbor without results. Consider this alternative:

A $4.50 bottle of honey applied to the problem area should solve
the problem, if there is a bear in the area.

In Alaska, bears are all

In Alaska, bears are all over. You drive down the road, and- there's a bear! You look out your window, and- there's a bear!

And everybody in Alaska copes with them just fine. You just leave them alone and make sure that you don't leave out anything for them to eat.

If you want to keep animals out of your garbage, put your bag in the trash, and then pour some bleach or ammonia over it. They will leave it alone, the smell will repel them.

Has Bear Been Caught

An update please! The Augusta National was trying to plant him on Berkman to increase traffic to prove a point but he would not co-operate!

Leave it Alone

If they leave it alone it will most likely move on. I hope no Rambo types go out and causes problems.

Warren Road

That was no bear. It was Commissioner Donnie Smith out walking around thinking about how he can increase our taxes and garbage fees all at the same time.

BEAR
Unpublished

You mention something about a bear roaming and a bunch of idiots will be out there trying to make it a trophy. Leave it alone and it will leave you alone. Just remove all food sources and it will wander away.

where?

Where on Warren Road? Was it near Washington Road, or near the Elementary School? Inquiring minds would like to know.

Corner

It was near the corner of Warren Rd. and Whaley Rd., near where Donnie Smith lives.

Smart Bear!

He was out looking at the new cars on a Sunday when there would be no salespeople to bother him.

IS BLACK BEAR EATABLE

HUMOR FOR SOME, A FOOD IDEA FOR OTHERS

YES
Better tasting in mid to late in the Spring vs. Fall tho.
So, what does black bear taste like? It’s similar to venison, only sweeter. And like venison, it’s a deeper red than beef, with a texture rather like pork, though coarse-grained.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Remember this ain't a deer, it has 6' craws, weight 150-600 pounds,
runs at 20mph and it bites back.
