WHERE: Deans Bridge Road, from Tobacco Road to Willis Foreman Road

WHAT: Grass is overgrown in the median of Deans Bridge Road.

WHO’S RESPONSIBLE: Georgia engineering department.

William Evans, an official with the Georgia Department of Transportation, said their mowing route on Deans Bridge Road ends at Tobacco Road, leaving the rest to the engineering department.

In regards to mowing on Deans Bridge Road, Evans said the DOT handles all responsibilities up to Gate 5 of Fort Gordon, but anything beyond that point is contracted to mowing companies by the engineering department.

ACTION PROMISED: Georgia Department of Engineering officials said they are running behind schedule and mowers will not complete the job until mid-to-late July.

After cutting the grass in July, officials said mowers will return for a second cut in September.

Doug Barnard

This picture shows what the newly-planted median on Doug Barnard Parkway just north of the airport will look like in a couple of years.

Ride down

Sand Bar Ferry Road... Looks horrible to be one of the entrances to the city off of BBJ Expwy. They need to bring a combine baler...

Doug Barnard

Didn't the city take over maintenance and upkeep of Doug Barnard? I know there was some trees etc planted in the median down that way.

Some places are forgotten

I guess that highway doesn't mean much to the powers in charge..

It means a lot to me. My grandparents are buried on the church grounds right before you get to Willis Foreman---Morgan Rd is named for some of our folks---some of the best moonshine in Ga was made in those woods...I know, my folks made some of it & Uncle Walter sold the stuff....Augusta has been so busy worrying about a downtown that they can't see the damage going on in the south side.

You are losing good, honest, hard working folks because of that neglect. You are blind & no one can help you see.
Maybe it is too late, sad.

I've been in a little

I've been in a little cemetery on Deans Bridge Rd. Is it practically right next to the road, but you don't notice it unless you look for it?
