Country Music Hall of Fame member Loretta Lynn will take the stage at 8 p.m. on Aug. 23. Lynn, whose music career has lasted more than five decades, has a Grammy Lifetime Achievement award, among other honors. Her songs have covered a variety of topics and generated controversy over her prolific career, addressing divorce, the difficulties of blue-collar life, war and substance abuse.

Actor, producer and writer Kevin James will stop at the auditorium on Oct. 29, performing the stand-up comedy that led to roles in TV and movies. James starred in the sitcom The King of Queens and co-starred with Will Smith in the 2005 hit comedy movie Hitch.

Tickets for both performances will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday. They can be purchased online at georgialinatix.com, by phone at (877) 428-4849 and at the Champion’s Box Office at James Brown Arena.

Qualifications

A Loretta Lynn concert should specify if she is going to be standing up or sitting down... seriously.

Riverman, I hear ya. Loretta

Riverman, I hear ya. Loretta Lynn is about a million years old and James is a washed up hack. At the very height of his career he was an unfunny lard butt. This is exciting news in Augusta? Heaven help us all.

Loretta Lynn

It really doesn't matter if Loretta Lynn performs sitting or standing, she puts on one heck of a show!! I went to her show a couple of years ago and it was worth every penny!! This is a performance from a LEGEND .... not just someone who would like to be one ... other than just in their own mind! BTW ... who are the Giants??

She's probably going to be

She's probably going to be sitting down, Riverman, she's elderly.

You have to admire her, she just keeps going and going and going.

Not Disrespecting Loretta

I'm not disrespecting Loretta. I'm a country music fan, but there comes a point when elderly performers do themselves and the fans a disservice by going on at an advanced age. I didn't see her last show here, but a former Chronicle reporter wrote about it in the old forums. He lamented she did the show sitting down and didn't actually do that many songs. Anyway, she had a great career.

Agree Shamrock...LEGEND

I'm lucky enough to have seen Loretta when she use to play the Bell with Conway and the Statler Brothers. Now that was some country music history in the making. I still have some of her songs in my collection. You never know when the mood will strike.

Keep going Loretta

Don't listen to rm....he knows not what he speaks!

I saw the Legend ole George Jones just a few years before he passed on...his voice was weak & he wasn't as powerful but he still had it...I admire them for singing in later years...btw, most of the audience had aged a lot too....oldies but goodies.

You don't throw someone away

You don't throw someone away because they get old!! I don't care whether Loretta is standing, sitting, or lying down. She has a beautiful voice! A few years back we saw BB King, and he was sitting down, and he gave a fantastic performance.

Seenit made a good point

Many of the people who go to see these elderly preformers, are pretty close to that same age; so they aren't expecting "rock" show. They probably just want to see and listen to the person they've loved their whole life, just one more time.

"...complete with foam finger."

"...complete with foam finger."

Heh, heh, heh. You wish. But seriously I like Loretta. Conway and her had something going that made their songs together powerful. I just don't think her performance at this age does her or her fans justice.

Loretta Lynn

I am shocked at the disrespect towards Loretta. I have seen her many times, and the last 2 times, yes she sat down. How cares if she sits? Either way, she puts on a fabulous show. I am only 46 yrs old, so I didn't have the privledge to see her perform when she was young, but let me tell you, she is NOT finished, nor has she lost her voice or spunk! Best concerts I've ever attended. How old are you people anyway..15? She's 82 and still making her own living doing what she loves. I am sure she is not depending on the govt for her income, so give her a break & show some respect. If you can't say something nice..keep it to yourself

Loretta Lynn

I forgot to mention that I saw Loretta in Sept of 2013. I noticed she wasn't moving too well, and appeared to be in pain. She was in much pain. Both mentally and physically. She had just lost her oldest daughter, Betty Sue who she says was her best friend. Her daughter told the audience she had 3 broken ribs, and they tried to get her to cancel, but she would not hear of it. They can get her a sofa to sing on for all I care. Bless her precious heart for her committment to her fans. Traveling and performing with a crushed & broken heart & broken ribs...WOW..Kuddos is all I can say!
