COLUMBIA — A former Richland County jail officer has been sentenced to 60 years in prison for killing his pregnant fiancee and setting her body on fire.

The State newspaper reported that 24-year-old Tristan Gist was sentenced Wednesday in a plea agreement in the March 2013 killing of 22-year-old Dierra Fisher.

Prosecutor Meghan Walker said Gist shot Fisher in the head while she was asleep in the couple’s apartment.

Authorities say Gist put Fisher’s body in a truck and took it to a secluded spot near a Richland County landfill and set the body on fire.

Prosecutors say the couple had argued and Gist was depressed because they could not afford to buy a house. Gist told investigators that Fisher had threatened to leave and take two preschool-age children with her.

He should've gotten the death

He should've gotten the death penalty.

But now he doesn't have to

But now he doesn't have to worry about buying a house, he'll be in the Big House, and now the children are gone, too.

But it is so sad that those babies are now left without a mother, because of that cowardly low-life.

The take-away is this, ladies:

Don't threaten, ever. Make up your mind, make a plan and do it, without giving the slightest, tiniest hint to anyone. No one.

"Gist was depressed they he

"Gist was depressed they he could not afford to buy a house"

Must be the new grammar.
