NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — Police in North Charleston have charged a substitute teacher who is also a police officer with shoving a student.

Police Chief Scott Deckard says 25-year-old Brandon Moses is being charged with third-degree assault and battery. Moses is also a Charleston police officer.

A police report says there was a confrontation between Moses and a 14-year-old student late last week at the Daniel Jenkins Creative Learning Center.

Moses said the student ignored several requests to give him a basketball after a physical education class and instead threw the ball to another student.

Lack of discipline starts at home

Authority must be maintained for the safety of ALL students. But Sub-teachers need to know the rules also or ways to enforce discipline without resorting to contact.

If there is a next time, the brat should cool his rockets and be required to warm up a bench during PE for a few weeks.

BTW:
What is third-degree assault and battery in SC:
just a touch, or saying "I should paddle your Tail" rates as 3rd degree assault in SC.

SC Code Section 16-3-600. Assault and battery.
(2) A person who violates this subsection is guilty of a misdemeanor, and, upon conviction, must be fined not more than five hundred dollars, or imprisoned for not more than thirty days, or both.

Being a sub is the absolute

Being a sub is the absolute WORST job in education. Teachers give busy work, kids don't care. A real mess.

Geez

Only in America can we now say that the students controlls the teachers and they know it. "You Can't Tell Me What To Do!"
