SC teacher faces assault charge

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — Police in North Charleston have charged a substitute teacher who is also a police officer with shoving a student.

Police Chief Scott Deckard says 25-year-old Brandon Moses is being charged with third-degree assault and battery. Moses is also a Charleston police officer.

A police report says there was a confrontation between Moses and a 14-year-old student late last week at the Daniel Jenkins Creative Learning Center.

Moses said the student ignored several requests to give him a basketball after a physical education class and instead threw the ball to another student.
