ATLANTA — Temperatures are headed below freezing across much of Georgia -- even as far south as Americus in south Georgia -- by early Thursday.

In metro Atlanta, low temperatures early Thursday are expected to be in the mid-20s, with lows around 20 in some north Georgia mountain towns.

Thursday morning’s low temperatures are expected to be around 28 degrees in Columbus; 27 in Macon; 31 in Americus; 32 in Albany; and 34 in Dublin.

The National Weather Service said in a hazardous weather advisory that a slight chance of a wintry mix is possible Wednesday in the far northeast Georgia mountains, where residual moisture combines with below-freezing temperatures.

Snow

I know we won't see any tomorrow, but it would be nice to get a 1-inch snowfall before April, just to have something to talk about.

One of our bigger snowfalls

One of our bigger snowfalls in recent years came in early March if memory serves.
