Post office forgets Army care packages

ATLANTA — Residents of an Atlanta-area retirement home want to know why care packages they tried to send to U.S. troops overseas were left sitting in a nearby post office for months.

Residents of the King’s Bridge Retirement Community on Briarcliff Drive packed and sent more than 100 care packages, WSB-TV reported. They were intended for troops serving in Afghanistan for Veterans Day, more than three months ago.

But the packages only made it about a mile to a post office in DeKalb County.

A paperwork error resulted in the mailing not being processed, the U.S. Postal Service said in a statement.

“We sincerely apologize for this delay,” postal officials said in the statement, promising that the packages would be processed immediately and sent to the troops on Tuesday.

World War II veteran Harold Dye says he put a lot of time into his note. “I’m at a loss for words in a sense,” he said.

No one gave people at the retirement community any notification the packages were at the post office for so long, said Jim Waldrop, the center’s executive director.

An Apology?

This was not one package but hundreds. Does the government not see why the Private Sector is putting them out of business?

Maybe the postal employees

Maybe the postal employees were pilfering the packages and in no hurry to sent them on. Free stuff and nobody expecting them on the other end. It stands to reason that hundreds of packages laying around the post office for months SHOULD have caused somebody to ask questions.

Oh the humanity.

Maybe it was just a clerical error. It happens. Someone made a mistake, it was discovered, the packages will be delivered. Sheesh.

So no one was interested

So no one was interested enough to question why hundreds of packages are just sitting there? Give me a break.

Christmas and UPS/FEDEX

Remember how upset we were on Christmas when last minute orders shipped via UPS and FEDEX arrived 2 days late due to the weather. We wanted all sorts of benefits for the delay. What is the USPS going to do for our troops in Afghanistan?

A simple "I'm sorry" doesn't cut it.

When I read something like this it really makes me angry. Someone really dropped the ball on this one and should at least be suspended for a few weeks without pay. Those people expected their packages to be sent and no ones notifies them that there is some error holding them up. It does make you wonder if someone might have been pilfering the goodies. A simple "I'm sorry" doesn't cut it.

Post office=Government
Government=Cutting benefits to veterans and slicing defense spending
Cutting benefits to Veterans and active military=Demoralizing the troops!!
Demoralizing the troops=Less effectiveness and preformance
Less effectiveness and preformance=USA's strength questioned!!
USA's Strength questioned=Emboldened enemies!!
Embolden enemies=Greater danger for USA, Israel and other allies
Greater danger for USA, Israel=This administration reaching their TRUE goal!!

Yes, it may seem a little overkill to say this about packages not being delivered, but this is only ONE part of it!! Everything this administration does, demoralizes the troops!! Demoralizing our troops is NEVER a good thing!!
