Several production crew members working on the upcoming Allman Brothers biopic, “Midnight Rider,” were conducting a camera test on the railroad tracks behind Rayonier Performance Fibers paper mill in Jesup, Ga., WJCL reports.

The crew was on the trestle bridge near Doctortown Road, leaving them no place to go as the train approached. One of the production crew was killed and seven others were injured. They were taken to Wayne County Hospital for treatment.

Sheriff’s officials haven’t released the woman’s identity, and officials from CSX rail company say they’re working with authorities on the investigation.

There's no info on this here, but saw this on the WFXG newscast last night and they said something about a murder charge? I found that odd.

No Sweet son, they weren't trespassing. According to wsav.com "Wayne County Detective Joe Gardner says the crew did have permission from CSX to film in the area. "

No sure why the Wayne County Sheriff's office is investigating this as a homicide, not much information in any of the articles.

Correction.....after reading

Correction.....after reading several articles, it appears the filming crew had permission to film in the area but did not have permission to be on the bridge filming. It appears a mattress was placed on the tracks to film a "dream" section of the film and there are some questions concerning safety precautions.

Dreamworks

With today’s animation technology and digital editing techniques, they could have done the "dream" section with special effects and never needed to drag the mattress out onto the trestle.

This is strange

there were at least 8 people on the bridge. Not one could hear a train coming? In my experience u can hear them from quite a distance. Doubtful they were all wearing headphones.

They might have had

They might have had permission to film in the area, but that still doesn't mean that there wasn't any train traffic.

You'd think that they would've had sense enough to post someone to watch for a train, if they had on headphones. And sense enough to find out when a train was scheduled, before they went out on the trestle.

They had permission to film

They had permission to film in the area, but apparently not on the tracks or trestle. The train came at high speed, hit the mattress which exploded releasing shrapnel like pieces, reponsible for injuries. That is a very busy track.

This is a terrible story but

This is a terrible story but I wish they would make a movie about his brother Duane Allman-the one with talent. I hate to tell Greg this but I am sure he knows too-the Allman brothers band center piece was Duane. Greg led a life of drugs, drinking, and debauchery, needed a liver transplant should make a great movie. They lived in Macon Ga why Jesup i wonder.

The wind turbulence created by a fast moving train can literally suck a human being into it.

Gregg

While Duane was a more accomplished musician on the guitar, I would not diss Gregg's talent and contributions to the Allman Brothers Band. Gregg has a great singing voice for their style of music and his contributions with the keyboard helped complete the group.

I'm a die hard fan of the original Allman brothers band-now it is really the Warren Haynes band (who is also a great musician). I'm jaded I admit, but they were not just a southern rock/blues band but a great jam band as I've seen many times. It wasn't their songs but their jams, no nonsense approach, no flashy gimmicks, just getting down with some unbelievable great jams-lots of memories. I remember the days both Duane and Berry Oakley passed and knew then that was the end of the Allman brothers band. After that it was the Greg Allman band with Chuck Level and Lamar Williams which made some great music too (but it wasn't the Allman brothers band-well in name only) and now Warren Haynes has joined and he is stellar on his own. I'm not really dissing Gregg Allman he has had a great career-more so just lamenting the passing of the "original" band. One of my favorite bands during the early 70s.

Movie

Now they can make a movie about the making of the Gregg Allman movie. That exploding mattress would be an interesting special effect.

P.S. Today is the first time I noticed he spelled his name with a double g. I wonder what name was on his birth certificate?
