A police car from one of Pastor Jeffrey Rollins' favorite TV shows, "The Andy Griffith Show," was parked in the front of First Baptist Church of Springfield on Wednesday for the funeral of Rollins, who was killed Feb. 15 in a car accident.

The church was packed for the two-hour funeral, and those attending were reminded of Rollins’ fondness for The Andy Griffith Show with a clip from the show and a quote from the character Andy Taylor on the funeral program.

“I firmly believe that in every situation, no matter how difficult, God extends grace greater than the hardship, and strength and peace of mind that can lead us to a place higher than where we were before,” Griffith once said.

Rollins was known to use quotes from the show in his work the children of the church.

“Jeff loved Andy Griffith,” Sheriff Jimmy McDuffie said. “I think he loved the easiness of it, the quietness. The way Effingham used to be years ago. It was a small community, a quiet community, it was a lot simpler times.”

McDuffie said Rollins was a good man who will be missed.

“I’ve never known anybody that had anything bad to say about the man,” McDuffie said. “He was 100 percent genuine.”

Anybody that loves "The Andy

Anybody that loves "The Andy Griffith Show" can't be all that bad! Love the show and love the lessons that exist in each episode.
If you ever get the chance and are up in North Carolina, make sure you head over to Mt. Airey, NC and check out the small little town where Andy Griffith grew up. They have a wonderful little museum that features Andy and the show on one side, and on the other side, a little museum for it's other "famous" citizen, Donna Fargo ("I'm The Happiest Girl in the Whole U.S.A.!"). Go get you a nice meal at the Snappy Lunch grill, go see the jailhouse, and even get your haircut at Floyd's Barber Shop! At night, you can walk over to the Andy Griffith Playhouse and watch some good bluegrass music and see that little nervous Barney Fife impersonator!
Good times.
