90,000 outages across Georgia

ATLANTA — Georgia Power reported that nearly 90,000 customers were already without power by 10 a.m. Wednesday as ice began coating trees and power lines across the state.

More than 65,000 of them were in metro Atlanta.

Another 23,446 customers were in east Georgia, many of them around the Augusta area.

Nearly 2,000 customers were without power in the Macon area.



Savannah River Site resumes normal activity

A suspicious item was discovered Wednesday afternoon at the Savannah River National Laboratory which prompted emergency responseactivities.
