A suspect is in custody, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office said Saturday morning.

The slain victim was identified as Christopher Padgett, 39, of Augusta. He was shot at least once in the chest, Chief Deputy Coroner Mark Bowen said, and pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 11 p.m.

An autopsy is scheduled to be done in Atlanta at the GBI Crime Lab, Bowen said in a news release.

The other victim was taken to Georgia Regents Medical Center, deputies said.

Sherwood Forest Area - sure has changed

We have a close friend on Williams Drive, who is a medical shut-in, 2 streets over.

Given the area and close proximity to the liquor store and right behind a (?former?) RCSO Sub Station the additional facts will be welcome to set the our friends mind at ease.

Substations only help if the

Substations only help if the officers are able to spend some time there. It is usually only a place to do paperwork and respond from. Considering officers cars have been keyed in neighborhoods they live in, I don't see how much an officer's presence is a deterrent.

Violence

Violence on a daily basis - when will it all end? Only killing and maiming each other is the standard these days. Sad world we live in indeed.

This mess was created by the Great Society, liberals/progressives, democrats and black leaders and is only going to get worse. As the economy gets worse over the next 3 years there will be an increase in violence. When the handouts are cut there will be riots in most cities.

The only consolation is that

The only consolation is that much of the time it is thugs killing other thugs. That is true whether it involves blacks, hispanics, whites, asians, or any other subgroup of people prone to violence. The truth is, I could not care less when motorcycle gangs, street gangs, drug bangers, mafia types, etc. knock each other off. It is just one less scumbag for civil people to deal with.

The ones I feel for are the innocent and law abiding folks these heathens live among.
