Abducted SC baby found beside road

HOLLY HILL, S.C. — Berkeley County sheriff’s deputies say a baby found beside a road had been abducted in Orangeburg County.


Police say the 4-month-old girl was found late Tuesday afternoon.

Holly Hill Police Lt. Joshua Detter says the child was taken from a house just outside Holly Hill.

The father said four men came to his house Tuesday afternoon, assaulted him and took his daughter.

Officers have not determined why the child was taken. There have been no arrests.

Someone spotted the child around 5 p.m. along state Highway 311 west of Moncks Corner. Berkeley County Sheriff’s Capt. Rick Ollic says emergency workers determined the girl was fine. She’s been returned to her parents.

Orangeburg County deputies were about to issue an Amber Alert when she was found.
