HOLLY HILL, S.C. — Berkeley County sheriff’s deputies say a baby found beside a road had been abducted in Orangeburg County.

Police say the 4-month-old girl was found late Tuesday afternoon.

Holly Hill Police Lt. Joshua Detter says the child was taken from a house just outside Holly Hill.

The father said four men came to his house Tuesday afternoon, assaulted him and took his daughter.

Officers have not determined why the child was taken. There have been no arrests.

Someone spotted the child around 5 p.m. along state Highway 311 west of Moncks Corner. Berkeley County Sheriff’s Capt. Rick Ollic says emergency workers determined the girl was fine. She’s been returned to her parents.

Orangeburg County deputies were about to issue an Amber Alert when she was found.

I would not have been so quick to return the baby, until more information was uncovered as to WHY?

Thank God the poor child wasn't harmed but as Nocnoc said there must be a lot more to the story.

When a child is kidnapped,

When a child is kidnapped, they are returned to the parents- the parents didn't commit any crime.

They can't remove a child unless the child is in danger- and until the police can determine that, the parents get the child back.
