CHARLESTON, S.C. — A former Charleston firefighter is accused of trying to hire an undercover police officer to kill his wife.

A judge on Wednesday denied bond for 41-year-old Edward Clinton Jones III on a charge of solicitation of murder.

Authorities say Jones approached a man and asked him if he knew someone who would be willing to kill his wife. Jones allegedly told the man he wanted his wife killed because she was planning on leaving him and moving to Delaware with their children.

The man went to police and later met with Jones and an undercover officer, whom authorities say Jones offered to pay $8,000 to “finish off” his wife.

Police say Jones worked for the Charleston Fire Department for 19 years. Court papers listed no attorney for him.

It seems to me

based on articles like this and reality TV shows that 99.99% of the people out there who say yes, they will murder your spouse for money are actually undercover cops. Almost none of them are real killers for hire.

Any good Firefighter could have done this himself

Its weird what topics get tossed out when a group of guys sit in a break room talking.

14+ years ago in a break room, it came around to this very subject.
Where it also involved a arrested husband trying rid himself of his wife.

Carbon Monoxide was the most popular ....

An Yes my wife of 37 years , is still alive everyone.

Yeah , Dixie, but what about that 0.01% that DO work out?? And another thing to think about, maybe the paper and those shows don't want to show the ones that actually do work, or nobody knows they did!
My future ex-wife and I were just talking about this. What is she?...#4?? Or is it #5?
No..just some sick humor! Been happily married well-over 20 years now!
