ATLANTA — Miley Cyrus went twerk-less on stage but the pop star still put on a risque performance that seemed to please the crowd.
It was a lot of activity onstage during Cyrus’ performance at 96.1’s annual Jingle Ball concert Wednesday night in Atlanta. There was a dancing dwarf, a woman dressed in a tall green Christmas tree costume and Santa Clause impersonator prancing across the stage with a bottle in a brown paper bag.
Wearing a red leotard, the 21-year-old Cyrus often pulled close to her backup dancers, thrusting herself upon them. Santa walked up behind her danced on Cyrus a couple of times, but the moments only lasted a few seconds.
Cyrus performed some of her hits from “Party in the USA,” ‘’We Can’t Stop” and “Wrecking Ball.”
She also slowed down the tempo, singing Lana Del Ray’s “Summertime Sadness.”
But unlike her previous stint, Cyrus held off from twerking onstage. She reportedly gyrated on Santa during her Jingle Ball performance in Los Angeles.
Cyrus was the final act in a night that also featured performances from Robin Thicke, Pitbull, Flo Rida, Travie McCoy, Fifth Harmony, Armin Van Buuren and Bonnie McKee.
Thicke was one of the first to take the stage, performing only three songs including his hit single, “Blurred Lines.” Pitbull went on before Cyrus, putting on a show with “Don’t Stop the Party,” ‘’Feel This Moment” and “I Know You Want Me.”
Arguably one of the best performances was Flo Rida, who performed several of his songs bringing out rapper Gorilla Zoe. They both tossed a large stash of cash onto the crowd.
Flo Rida also brought out Santa, but a different one than Cyrus’ version. The bulky Flo Rida sat on the shoulders of Santa, who carried the rapper through the crowd during his performance of “Wild Ones.”
