Larry Hicks, 73, of Beech Island, and Martha Barsh, 84, of Jackson, died from multiple body trauma injuries after their Ford truck collided
with a tractor-trailer at the intersection of Atomic Road and Tisdale Street about 8:30 a.m., according to a statement released by Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton.

Hicks, who was driving, stopped at the stop sign on Tisdale Street but then drove into the path of a Peterbilt tractor-trailer, according to
the statement. The tractor-trailer, traveling southbound on Atomic Road, was driven by Theondra Ransom. She was not injured.

The collision is being investigated by the Aiken County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol. Toxicology tests are pending.
