Three freight cars were derailed in downtown Augusta on Thursday morning, blocking some intersections near the courthouse at Ninth Street.
The CSX train, traveling from Waycross, Ga., to Nashville, derailed at about 4 a.m., said CSX Spokesman Bob Sullivan. The train had 114 freight cars.
The stalled train along Fenwick Street blocked the street’s intersections with Ninth, Eighth and Seventh. The track was restored by 4 p.m., Sullivan said.
The cause of the derailment hadn’t been determined as of Thursday night.
