Child hurt in fire still in critical condition

The 3-year-old boy pulled Sunday from a burning house remained in critical condition Tuesday at Georgia Regents Medical Center, a hospital spokeswoman said.

John Thompson had been sleeping in a bedroom of his grandmother Sandra Cato’s 527 Carr St. home when it caught fire after 8 p.m. Sunday, according to Cato’s son James Cato.

The residence was destroyed and authorities think the child was trapped in a smoke-filled room for a half-hour.
