A 21-year-old Augusta man says he was shot in the leg Thursday morning after confronting a man he found in his car.

According to a release from the Richmond County Sheriff's Office, Quinterious Denzel Roberson was leaving a business about 1:45 a.m. in the 200 block of 11th Street when he saw someone in his vehicle in the parking lot. Roberson told deputies he challenged the man, who got out, pulled a gun and demanded money. Before Roberson could comply, the gunman fired a shot, hitting Roberson just above his left knee.

Roberson was taken to Georgia Regents Medical Center with a nonlife-threatening wound, deputies said.

Police continue to look for the gunman, described as a black man with shoulder-length dreadlocks in a white T-shirt and dark jeans.

I'm in a dark parking lot,

I'm in a dark parking lot, it's late, and I see a stranger in my car.

Do I:

a) Challenge him, so I can get shot, he's not in my car for any good reason, I know he's armed

or b) Call the police, so I can be safe?

What to do, what to do....

Quinterious is very, very lucky that he just got shot in the leg. He could be dead right now.

Establishment

From the story:

. . . Quinterious Denzel Roberson was leaving an establishment about 1:45 a.m. in the 200 block of 11th Street . . .

The reporter could have taken a little more time and reported the name of the establishment or the type of establishment or the address of the establishment. I hope an editor sends the reporter back out to get more details of this story.

I live near where this

I live near where this incident took place, and there's absolutely nothing wrong concerning parts of 11th street after dark. I'm positive there's more to the story, and please stop trying to scare people.

I don't know why people let the Chronicle repeatedly fool them. They obviously choose to not report 80% the crime outside of Richmond County. No school tribunals, weekly crime map, etc.

The person who got shot in Aiken last night probably won't even be mentioned. If the media decides to cover the story they'll spend only around 30 seconds on the story compared to 2 minutes on the shooting in Augusta. They'll also just focus on the actual shooting in Aiken. In terms of Augusta the media will bring up a previous shooting or go find somebody and ask them if they feel safe after the shooting.

Maybe because....

This is an Augusta Newspaper? They report on Augusta news? I noticed the Aiken Standard had news about the Aiken shooting but not the Augusta shooting. It isn't brain surgery....

Why do you always go back and

Why do you always go back and change your entire post? The Columbia County News Times and the Aiken Standard both already exist. When do you see positive articles concerning Augusta on either of them?

The Chronicle continues to include the weekly high school games, new businesses, etc in the surrounding counties on here. I'm sure it's a coincidence they can give the Kia dealership, Fresh Market, Aldi, etc their own articles. Then turn around and not be able to create a weekly crime map or tribunals related to those counties.

The Aiken Standard doesn't tend to report the daily positive things going on Augusta. Why does the chronicle need to mention things in Aiken then? I also noticed how the shooting article is at the bottom of the page on the Aiken Standard.

If the majority of positive articles on the Chronicle were related to Richmond County then I wouldn't see a problem. I don't know how you can argue the Chronicle dedicating more coverage to the high school sports in other counties compared to Richmond.

Josey, Laney, and Glenn Hills must be too black/democratic so we get hit repeatedly with games related to Greenbrier or Lakeside.

Geeze

If the government in Richmond County functioned better, no doubt you would see more positive articles.

Once again....

I change my post because I can and want to. Sometimes after reading my posts I think of other things I neglected to put in the post when I was writing. Coming from someone that changes his posts (like almost every poster does) I find you pointing that out as laughable and deflection from the article above.

description...

He couldn't get a better description than a black male with shoulder-length dreadlocks in a white T-shirt and dark-colored jeans? Gee. That matches nearly every male in my neighborhood. For awhile there was a gang called "The White T's" in the 30906 area, but that led to a bit of confusion, understandably. Don't know if they're still operating in the area, but they were mentioned in a rap song some years ago.

Just found this:

Just found this slightly more detailed description:
"Augusta Crime Stoppers.org Suspect description: B/M, 6’03”/185lbs, shoulder length dreads, wearing a white t-shirt and dark colored jeans, nod."

I think the bottom line here

I think the bottom line here is that there WAS a shooting in the 200 block of 11th St and it is dangerous to be in that area in the wee hours.

And countyman....."must be too black/democratic"

Wham.........AC did you feel that race card hit the table. If you can't discredit any other way....play that race card.

they have also edited the description of the assailant since my earlier comment to remove the indication that he was a light-skinned black man..

"I live near where this

"I live near where this incident took place, and there's absolutely nothing wrong concerning parts of 11th street after dark." Given that being shot is of no consequence. Really? REALLY?
