The event, known as Hackathon, is being held by Rural Sourcing Inc. and the City of Augusta.
People may visit the Jessye Norman Amphitheater between 2-7 p.m. to watch the competition.
The goal of the event is to create a mobile Web site for the city that allows users to view key historical points of interest around Augusta.
Winners will receive various prizes including a paid internship with the City of Augusta to complete the mobile Web site.
