Tractor flips, kills Ga. man

FARMINGTON, Ga. -- A 46-year-old farm laborer was killed Tuesday when his tractor overturned on a hill where he was cutting grass at Southeastern Growers in the Farmington community, Oconee County Coroner Ed Carson said.

Mario A. Carranza, of Old Epps Bridge Road in Oconee County, was pronounced dead at the scene. Carranza’s body was taken to the state’ medical examiner’s office for an autopsy, which is standard for a work-related accident, Carson said.

The man appeared to have died from internal injuries, Carson said.

Emergency medical services was dispatched at 12:25 p.m. to the tree farm off U.S. Highway 441 to an injured person call, according to the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office.

No foul play is suspected, a sheriff’s spokesman said.
