Lantz Lamback claimed his second medal at the 2012 Paralympic Games in London, when he won gold in record-setting fashion Tuesday.

The Augusta native set a Paralympic record with a time of 27.84 to win the 50-meter freestyle event. Lamback edged China’s Shiyun Pan (28.09) and England’s Matthew Walker (28.47).

“It’s the greatest feeling in the world,” Lamback said Wednesday. “The 50 final was one of the greatest races of my life.”

Earlier in the Paralympics, Lamback claimed bronze in the 100 free. With two medals in this year’s event, Lamback now has eight career medals in three Paralympic Games appearances (two gold, two silver, four bronze).

Lamback still has two more events this week: 400-meter free finals Thursday and 4x100 medley relay Saturday.
