CUMMING, Ga. — Authorities are investigating the drowning death of a 7-year-old boy at an apartment complex swimming pool.

CBS Atlanta reports that the boy drowned Sunday afternoon at the Centennial Apartments in the Windermere subdivision in Forsyth County, just north of Atlanta.

Sheriff’s deputies say the child was playing in the pool when his father left for a few minutes to dry off. Deputies said when the father came back, he saw his son at the bottom of the pool, not moving.

Deputies say that when they arrived, residents were already performing CPR. The child was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.

The child’s name was not immediately released.

Why?

Why would anyone leave a child at a pool alone? My 11 year old grandson is a great swimmer and we taught his very young due to having a pool in our backyard but we would still never leave him alone. Prayers to the family.
