Body found in Macon fire

MACON, Ga. — Authorities are investigating the death of a man whose body was found in a burning apartment in Macon.

The Telegraph newspaper reports that Macon-Bibb County firefighters discovered the body on a couch during the fire early Monday.

Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones said the 56-year-old suffered from polio. Jones said he was still trying to notify the man’s family before releasing his name.

An autopsy is scheduled to determine how the man died.
