Rabid kitten scratches middle Ga. resident

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. -- A stray kitten that scratched a person in north Houston County tested positive for rabies Friday, according to a news release from the county health department.

According to The Telegraph newspaper, the kitten, which had been acting strangely, scratched the person on the right hand Thursday when he picked up the kitten. The kitten was euthanized and sent for tests at the Georgia Public Health Laboratory, where it tested positive for rabies, the news release stated.

The person is receiving post rabies exposure shots.



Savannah River Site resumes normal activity

A suspicious item was discovered Wednesday afternoon at the Savannah River National Laboratory which prompted emergency responseactivities.
