A memorial service will be held Wednesday for a Fort Gordon soldier from Indiana who died over the weekend after falling while on post.

The memorial for Pfc. Joseph N. Myers, 22, will be at 11:30 a.m. in Alexander Hall on Chamberlain Avenue, a fort spokesman said.

Myers accidently fell from a second-floor balcony at his residence Friday, according to a news release. He suffered a major head injury and was taken to Medical College of Georgia Hospital, where he was placed on life support. He died Saturday afternoon.

Myers was born in Sheridan, Ind., and lived with his family in Indianapolis. He was a member of the 297th Military Intelligence Battalion.

The accident is under investigation by the Fort Gordon Criminal Investigation Division.
