Corey Allan Morin, a Grovetown teen struck by a vehicle Tuesday on Hereford Farm Road, died Wednesday evening according to Columbia County Coroner Vernon Collins.

Collins said Morin died of closed head trauma as a result of the accident.

Morin, 17, of Devon Road, was on his way to a friend’s house at about 4 p.m. Tuesday. He was standing on the edge of Hereford Farm Road near Lewiston Elementary School and looked away from southbound motorists, Columbia County sheriff’s Sgt. A.J. Lyons said.

Morin then stepped into the road in front of a Ford Escape driven by Brian David Pregrove, 42, of Cannock Street in Grovetown. Pregrove was not charged.

CC Roads

Anyone who travels Hereford Farm as often as I have over the past 8 years has seen what the spawl has done. I used to be able to travel that road and rarely see a car, it was really a peaceful drive, now they are like bees. They are still building more and more houses yet no new roads or businesses, especially in Grovetown, to support the boom of people. When will it stop? To me it is really a poor lack of planning. I wish I had never bought a house in CC, I would rather be back in the country!

Hereford Farm Rd.

Such a tragedy! My prayers go out to the families. My grandparents have lived on Hereford Farm Rd since 1965, I grew up on Hereford Farm and still live there now. Back in the day traffic was very light and you didn't have to worry about walking along the road. My daughter was getting off the school bus one afternoon and a big dump truck came flying around the curve, slammed on brakes and had to run off on the shoulder of the road because he was going too fast to stop for the bus. Needless to say she quit riding the bus after this and my youngest has never ridden a bus because it's not safe for them to get off at the bus stop. Columbia County needs to lower the speed limit on this road and also put a stop to the dump trucks and18 wheelers using Hereford Farm Rd as a thoroughfare. Just think what it will be like if they widen the road and connect it to the Parkway as the residents of Hereford Farm have heard the county is planning on doing. We will be risking our lives everyday just trying to get out of our driveways.

Why does every tragic

Why does every tragic ACCIDENT have to result in finger pointing and blame? No matter how much planning and forethought not every accident may be avoided. My prayers to the families of all involved.

@ccboesucks

With a title like that you don't deserve to be allowed to post and your comment was not in good taste placed with this article. @magnolia good comment about Soapy sometimes he/she fires off and doesn't think! This is not the place for traffic engineering gripes. Take them to the planning commission.

Here we go again

Blaming the road and traffic in this incident is like everyone blaming Hwy 56 for all the deaths.
There were witnesses and traffic that fateful day, so the cops did their job and investigated. Driver not at fault speaks volumes.
Prayers to the young mans family.
