ATLANTA — MARTA had to temporarily shut down part of its rail line in Atlanta after a train hit someone near a downtown station.
MARTA spokesman Lyle Harris told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that a train struck a pedestrian in a tunnel between the Five Points and Georgia State stations on Monday afternoon.
The person was alert and conscious afterward. It’s unclear why the person was inside the tunnel, which is a restricted area.
A large section of the east-west line was shut down, and buses ferried passengers between the six stations that were affected.
