LEXINGTON, S.C. — A state prosecutor has paid a fine for having an open container of alcohol in his vehicle.

Prosecutor Donnie Myers of Lexington paid a $155 fine Wednesday afternoon.

Myers did not appear at the Thursday court session where he was convicted.

The 67-year-old prosecutor for Lexington, Saluda, Edgefield and McCormick counties was stopped by the Highway Patrol on May 25. Myers was given a field sobriety test and given a ticket and allowed to drive home.

No action has been taken to reprimand Myers.

Myers pleaded guilty and received one year of probation after he was stopped in Asheville, N.C., in 2005 and was charged with driving under the influence and having an open container.
