According to the National Weather Service, 1.32 inches of rain fell Tuesday at Augusta Regional Airport, with .55 inches recorded at Daniel Field Airport off Highland Avenue.
In Columbia County, rainfall totals varied from 1.01 inches at the Evans Government Complex to .60 inches at the county’s Kiokee Creek and Crawford Creek water treatment plants.
“It was not as much as some counties south of here, but it was a good, soaking rain – and we are grateful for what we did get,” said Pam Tucker, the director of Columbia County’s Emergency and Operations Division.
The highest sustained winds recorded at Augusta Regional Airport on Tuesday were 18 miles per hour, with the strongest wind gust peaking at 24 miles per hour, the weather service said.
Tuesday’s 1.32 inches at Augusta Regional brought the yearly total to 10.54 inches – 6.72 inches below the normal 17.26 inches expected at this point in the year.
More rainfall is in the forecast for Friday.
