Man drowns outside Atlanta

ACWORTH, Ga. — Authorities have identified a man who drowned at Lake Allatoona

Cherokee County sheriff’s Lt. Jay Baker said 34-year-old Rigoberto Lara Hernandez of Woodstock was pulled from the lake northwest of Atlanta on Sunday afternoon.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports (http://bit.ly/KKVGNU ) that Cherokee County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Galt’s Ferry Day Use area near Acworth shortly before 2 p.m. Sunday.

Hernandez was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, authorities said.

Baker said he had gone swimming in the lake after a family picnic.
