The Grovetown woman who died after a traffic accident this morning on Mike Padgett Highway has been identified.

According to Richmond County sheriff’s Capt. Scott Gay, Bonita C. Wallace, 57, pulled her 2010 Honda Accord from a private drive of 3444 Mike Padgett Highway into the path of a 2005 Ford pickup traveling northbound on Mike Padgett Highway near Marvin Griffin Road.

The pickup, driven by William Windsor, 41, of Augusta, struck the left side of the Honda.

Wallace was taken to Medical College of Georgia Hospital, where she died at 9:53 a.m., according to Richmond County Coroner Grover Tuten.

Wallace was a teacher at the Augusta Youth Development Campus, according to the Department of Juvenile Justice. The facility graduated four students in a ceremony early Friday.
