Ga. cows blamed for series of accidents

  • Follow Latest News

COVINGTON — Authorities assessing the damage from a series of vehicles crashes caused by cattle say that 15 escaped cows were killed in the Newton County wrecks.

Authorities say tell the Covington News that more than 40 cows got loose from a pasture along Georgia Highway 11 around 10 p.m. Wednesday. They said that led to at least six accidents because drivers couldn't see the dark-colored cows.

Georgia State Patrol Trooper Moses Little says a Toyota van struck and killed seven cows. The van was demolished.

A Chevy pickup truck struck and killed three more cows. Authorities say three other animals had to be put down by a sheriff's deputy.

No serious injuries were reported.

Bricton Farms owner C.L. Cook says the animals were worth about $40,000.

Cowlackofgate Updates:
- Obama appears on national television apologizing to animal kingdom for this udderly act of violence by gas power vehicles. Declares drivers at fault since had they been driving electric cars they would not be going fast enough to harm the cows.
- Unconformed reports van driver was Mickey D's franchise owner looking for cheap meats.
- PETA declares highway should be closed forever, as a memorial to cowacide.
- Farm owner advised these cows are going to be worth way more than 40K when lawyers come a calling

A few years back I was

A few years back I was returning from seeing a Braves game along with a couple of my buddies. I was riding in the passenger seat and dozing (this was early morning hours by then) when the car struck a coop of chickens that had fallen from a truck. Chickens everywhere. The kind of thing that you laugh about for years (BUT not the chickens I guess).

How do you like your steak?.......a little asphalt burn please.

I saw a chicken truck flipped over once, one of the 18 wheeler rigs. Looked like a pillow factory exploded.

I hear they are opening a new restaurant in Covington. It is called Road House Grill!

You know it sounds to me like a Chick-Fil-A conspiracy.

Maybe they had mad cows disease and stampeded the cars.
