The drive collects fans to be distributed to low-income residents of Aiken County this summer.
To participate, buy a new box fan at Lowe’s, 2470 Whiskey Road, and drop it off to ACTS volunteers who will be stationed at the store from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Fans are $16 each. Tax receipts will be available.
With increasing utility costs, the fans are a practical way people stay cool and reduce the possibility of heat exhaustion, said Karen Perry of ACTS.
ACTS was founded in 1986 with 16 local churches. Today, more than 60 churches work together through ACTS to provide a food pantry, clothing, utilities assistance, medications and furniture. For more information, see actsofaiken.org.
