Thunderstorms headed toward Columbia, McDuffie counties

Strong thunderstorms are expected to hit portions of McDuffie and Columbia counties, according the Pam Tucker, director of Columbia County Emergency & Operations Division.

In an alert, Tucker said National Weather Service Doppler rader indicated a strong thunderstorm northwest of Dearing, moving east-southeast at 15 mph. Wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph, along with lightning and small hail are possibilities.

The storm warning is through 7:30 p.m.
