According to a statement from the post, the body of 7-year-old Hannah Ross was recovered this afternoon at approximately 3:15 p.m.  from Soil Erosion Lake behind her home.

Almost 24 hours before, Fort Gordon authorities had asked local officers for help in finding her.

Deputies got the call around 7:30 p.m. from Fort Gordon authorities who said the girl was last seen around 6:40 p.m. in a wooded area around Cypress Circle on base.

Statement from Fort Gordon

FORT GORDON, GA – Fort Gordon is sad to announce the tragic loss of 7 year old Hannah Ross whose lifeless body was recovered this afternoon, Sunday, 29 April at approximately 3:15 p.m. from Soil Erosion Lake, behind her home at Fort Gordon.  A search had been on going around the clock since Hannah was reported to have wondered away from her home Saturday evening at around 6:45 p.m.

We appreciate the teamwork displayed by hundreds of volunteers who went into action immediately, to include the Columbia and Richmond County Sheriff’s office, their K-9 units, their rescue dive teams, as well as the dive team of the Georgia State Patrol, SWAT Division.  The leaders and Families of Fort Gordon thank them so much for their generous support. The level of cooperation that was displayed is a testimony to the strong and unique relationship that exists between Fort Gordon and our surrounding communities. Our prayers go out to the Family.

Aiken & Columbia Counties

Aiken & Columbia Counties have a bracelet/anklet that those with autism and alzheimers can wear that has a gps locator. In this situation they can be located immediately. Richmond County needs this system also. I pray this child will be found safely. It is so hard staying on top of an active child with autism. I pray for this family.

Prayers for this family!

Prayers for this family! Let's offer compassion at this time and not judgement. I imagine this family is beating themselves up over something they had little to no control over. God bless them during this time of uncertainty.

Wow,
Reallly gwtalife, take your own advice and GET A LIFE. Don't Sunday morning quarterback such a tragic and tense situation. having a autistic child isn't like having one that is not. My niece has a masters in autistic education and these children are different . I think in this situation it is best to pray and support this military family who stand the wall of freedom so others don't have to, and for all those capable to attend the search so she may be found and this family can be restored and at peace . I pray she is found safe and soon and I pray comfort for her family until she is. I also wish to thank all who are helping with the search. That gwtalife is what we in the s
CSRA call support , not judgement.

This child used to have a monitor but it got broke on the move to Augusta and they were having trouble getting another one issued. So again, just don't jump to conclusions on this case. Sometimes bad things happen and no one is to blame. Just pray little Hannah is found. Every moment she is gone means the outcome could be devastating.

I got the same news scoopdedoop64. They didn't put the monitor info in the news. I was just saying that is someone's first thought when things like this happen. Sad day.

They didn't put the word out officially. But someone was found in the lake was the word I got. No other details were given. I am assuming they will be having a official press conference.

Yes they did find her and I am sorry I couldn't give more info. I just didn't want to say something in an irresponsible manner. But that said, I just have a heavy heart for this family and little girl. May they find God's peace in this hour.

And let's not forget the many, many volunteers who searched for this little girl. And I pray for the dive team who actually found her. This must be so hard for all of them also. At least the misery of not knowing is over. I am so sorry.
