A Barnwell woman remained hospitalized Thursday with injuries from an Aiken County wreck that left the driver dead.

Angel Williams, 22, and Shanna Hay, 23, both of Barnwell, were taken to Medical College of Georgia Hospital after their 2005 GMC went off the right side of Old Barnwell Road and overturned about 4:30 a.m. Sunday.

They were not wearing seatbelts and were ejected from the vehicle.

Williams, who authorities said was driving the vehicle, died shortly after arriving at the hospital.

An MCG spokeswoman originally said Hay was taken to the emergency room but never admitted. The spokeswoman said Thursday that Hay was at the hospital in good condition.
