A hymn festival benefiting The Ronald McDonald House will close the 2011-’12 season of Concerts with a Cause at Saint John United Methodist Church on Sunday.

David Cherwien, organist, composer, and conductor of the National Lutheran Choir, will lead a selection of songs in New Life: Alleluia! A Hymn Festival for the Great 50 Days of Easter.

Don Saliers, professor emeritus at Candler School Of Theology at Emory University, will speak between hymns.

The hymn sing begins at 3 p.m. Sunday at the church, 736 Greene St. The event is free, but an offering will be taken in support of The Ronald McDonald House, which provides housing for families of ill children who are being treated at Augusta hospitals.

Since its founding in 2003, Concerts with a Cause has raised more than $100,000 for local organizations.
