Bargeron, who took over his new duties this week, was first hired as a junior engineer at Plant Vogtle in 1979. He spent 26 years at the site, rising to the position of assistant general manager in 2002. He has held other leadership positions within Southern Nuclear, including plant manager at Plant Farley in Dothan, Ala., and Plant Hatch near Baxley, Ga.
Bargeron received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology and his master’s degree in business administration from Auburn University.
Bargeron’s wife, Susan, is from Augusta. They have two adult sons, Matthew and Eric.
