The National Weather Service has issued a frost advisory for this evening through Thursday morning in the Augusta area.

Meteorologist Hunter Coleman said the frost is being brought on by a cold front that pushed through the area Tuesday.

“There’s a cooler, drier air mass that’s going to settle over the area tonight and tomorrow, so we’re expecting temperatures tonight to drop into the mid-30s,” Coleman said.

Recently, lows have stayed in the upper 40s to mid-50s.

The advisory is in effect from midnight to 9 a.m. Thursday.

Frost could also reappear Thursday evening.

Highs today and Thursday will remain around 70 degrees.

“After that, it’s going to warm up,” Coleman said.

Highs over the weekend will dramatically increase from the mid-70s on Saturday to near 90 on Sunday.
