A free training event for church musicians and worship leaders will be held from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. April 21 at Vineyard Community Church, 4274B Frontage Road.

“Centered” is the name of the half-day workshop, which includes sessions on topics such as songwriting, the heart and character of a worship leader, basic keyboard, guitar, vocals and percussion for worship.

The event is being produced as a collaboration of four churches: Vineyard Church of Augusta, Oasis De Bendicion, Gospel Water Branch Baptist, and Vineyard Community Church. Worship leaders from several other churches will lead sessions. Steve Carpenter, a Chicago musician, will appear as a special guest to speak on creativity and hip-hop in worship.
