A 78-year-old man died after a wreck Friday evening on Deans Bridge Road. It was the second fatal crash of the day on that road, authorities said.

Richmond County Deputy Coroner Kenneth Boose identified the victim as Enman Hershell Threatt, of Augusta. Boose said Threatt was pronounced dead at 7:15 p.m. at the scene, Deans Bridge and Wheeless roads.

Threatt was driving west on Wheeless Road and crossed Deans Bridge Road. Another vehicle with two people traveling north on Deans Bridge Road struck Threatt’s vehicle on the driver’s side. Both people in the striking vehicle were taken to an area hospital.

No further details were immediately available on the wreck.

Earlier Friday, Harold Leverett Jr., 49, of Hephzibah was driving south on Deans Bridge Road just south of Tobacco Road when he lost control and flipped his vehicle over at 10:19 a.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 11 a.m., Boose said.
