Gloria Jenkins, 27, was traveling northbound on Peach Orchard Road in the left-hand lane when she crossed the center lane driving a white Kia Optima, according to Chief Deputy Coroner Mark Bowen. The tractor-trailer was traveling southbound in the left-hand land near Brown Road when the accident occurred at 2:17 p.m.
Emergency personnel extricated Jenkins, who was wearing a seatbelt, from the vehicle. She was at fault in the accident and pronounced dead at the scene, Bowen said.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was taken to Medical College of Georgia Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Capt. Scott Gay said.
