Richmond County sheriff's Capt. Scott Gay said the driver of a Kia crossed the center line and hit a tractor-trailer head-on about 2 p.m.

Gloria Jenkins, 27, was traveling northbound on Peach Orchard Road in the left-hand lane when she crossed the center lane driving a white Kia Optima, according to Chief Deputy Coroner Mark Bowen. The tractor-trailer was traveling southbound in the left-hand land near Brown Road when the accident occurred at 2:17 p.m.

Emergency personnel extricated Jenkins, who was wearing a seatbelt, from the vehicle. She was at fault in the accident and pronounced dead at the scene, Bowen said.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was taken to Medical College of Georgia Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Capt. Scott Gay said.

Sure hate to hear about the

Sure hate to hear about the fatality. Really bad wreck. Don't know what happened but there is not a center line there. There is a full center turn lane all the way up that stretch of 25. You have to go across a full turn lane to go from the northbound into the southbound lanes.
