Smoke from fort may be visible

Another controlled burn is under way today at Fort Gordon and might produce smoke visible throughout the metro Augusta area, officials say.

The fort Forestry Service will be conducting a prescribed burn of 732 acres in Training Area 49, a spokesman said.

Not again! Between another sudden surge in pollen and the woods smoke contaminating the air, we'll probably have a spike in respiratory complications. Or worse. Do they HAVE to? (Rhetorical question. I suppose they do.)
